Lovely staff at this Thrive facility. Front office staff were very helpful in providing needed forms, and Dr. Higdon spent so much time with us explaining our sweet boy’s medical issues. He was so knowledgeable and personable. We are sorry he’s leaving Austin but are happy to have benefited from his care and concern for both our furry boys. 💕

Absolutely wonderful experience at Thrive! From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming. The clinic itself is clean, bright, and has a very comforting atmosphere that immediately put both me and my pet at ease.

The Veterinarian was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to thoroughly explain everything about my pet’s health and treatment options. I appreciated how patient and compassionate she was, answering all of my questions and addressing any concerns I had.

The support staff was equally amazing—efficient and caring, and they made sure we were comfortable every step of the way. They even followed up after our visit to check on how my pet was doing, which was a lovely touch that made me feel truly cared for.

I would highly recommend Thrive to anyone looking for top-notch veterinary care. It's clear that they genuinely care about their patients and go above and beyond to provide the best possible service.

Thrive Pet Clinic on South Lamar is heaven sent. The love and care that was given to my family pet Stone and the understanding and patience that was shown to me was outstanding. Dr. Cody Higdon and his team really love their patients and their job.

Don’t go here, go to ZippiVet down the street.

Came in for my 9.5 year old bulldogs annual visit. I had a few health questions for the vet tech who brought him back out after his shots and eval who had zero answers for me. I never had any opportunity to speak to a VET. Once I left, I was called back in due to a positive heartworm test. We were very worried. They did not send labs out until 4 days later and had no answers for me on a protocol or plan on how to treat his heartworms and I STILL never spoke to a vet when we got his diagnosis.
Thankfully I took him to Zippivet the next day who told us the tests were wrong or there was a mistake made because he did not have heartworms. Zippivet sent out the lab work 2 hours after our appointment, and we had final results from the lab after 48 hours. While I heard nothing from Thrive South Lamar until a full WEEK later stating it was in fact negative and they had made a mistake.

Just absolutely poor service, communication, everything. My dogs are my BABIES and I always want to make sure they are at the best place who makes health the top priority. THRIVE IS NOT IT.

Do better for your clients Thrive.

Dr. Boone is a great vet. Despite her being a good vet, I would not take my animal here because of the front desk staff. Unfortunately my dog was sick and we brought him in. About 2 weeks later he became significantly sicker and was having increased respiratory issues that were concerning. After messaging with Dr. Boone she suggested I make an appointment to come in and have him evaluated. I made and appointment online(or so I thought) and had a screenshot of the confirmation but when I arrived they informed me I didn't hit the final confirm button and therefore I didn’t actually have an appointment. I understand this part was completely my fault. When I explained my dog was significantly sicker after just being in clinic the less than 2 weeks before, the girl said “sorry, we dont take walk ins.” I proceeded to tell her he was having respiratory issues and she said “sorry you can come tomorrow,” so we left to find other options to have my dog evaluated. We called Austin Urban Vet to see if they could see our dog but they were unfortunately booked but immediately sent me a list of Acute Care clinics and emergency vet options that would be options to have my dog evaluated that day. Austin Urban vet has never seen my dog as a patient but cared significantly more than Thrive which we have been going to for the last 5 years. Save yourself the frustration and get a different vet office that truly cares about the health of your dog/cat. At Thrive you are simply a paying customer. They will do absolutely nothing in a time when somewhat urgent care is needed for your pet! I appreciate Dr. Boone but unfortunately we will never use Thrive again.

If I could give zero stars I would.

I brought my senior dog to Thrive when my regular vet was unavailable, hoping they could help as she was struggling to keep food down and in obvious pain. Unfortunately, they did not provide the care she needed. They cleaned her ears and sent me home with nausea medication, but failed to address her underlying issues. Two days later, she passed away.

Thrive completely overlooked her severe dehydration and gave no options to manage her pain. Despite the fact that she had lost 30% of her body weight—an alarming sign that should have raised immediate concern—they did nothing to investigate or treat the root cause of her condition.

I am devastated by their lack of attention and professionalism. My dog deserved better, and I would never trust this clinic again.

I cannot speak to the vet care, since I couldn't get past the incompetent, mean girl front desk staff. Denise, the practice manager, is one of the rudest women I've ever spoken with. Not a single one of the front desk staff has even basic phone skills. I was calling about care for a 15 year old dog. They did not care. It was as if I were interrupting their mean girl gossiping at work. They need to grow up if they want to keep their jobs. As for Denise's reply here, she's lying and inventing nonsense. I had no missed calls this morning. This mean girl nonsense among vet techs and vet practice staff has got to end. It is blatant, and clients notice it.

It’s time for me to find a new affordable vet. I understand higher costs at mainstream clinics, but when a place advertises affordability, it feels misleading. I brought in my young cat for a simple case of feline acne, expecting a topical treatment. Instead, I was pushed to pay $250 for vaccinations that weren’t necessary and didn’t even get to see the vet. While the staff is friendly and competent, I can’t shake the feeling that they’re upselling rather than focusing on what’s needed. I’ll be looking for a new veterinarian for my cats.
