I began coming to Dr Leland’s office for my cat about year ago, and felt like I had finally found a vet office that truly cared about my cat (Kream) like I did. However, I was very very disappointed and heartbroken after boarding my cat there for 9 days while I was traveling. The reason I boarded her was because a reoccurring skin issue began to flair up by her ear and I wanted the vet to keep an eye on it and provide any treatment if needed; I authorized up to $500 of treatment that could be administered without even needing to contact me.

When my partner picked up Kream the office said everything went well and brought her to the car in the kennel with the boarding invoice; no notes what so ever. Once she got home and out of the kennel, Kream was very defensive and scared. Immediately, I noticed the area between her right ear and eye was completely mangled looking; The same area I was concerned about before boarding was now at least twice as big and obviously infected.

I rushed her to another local cat hospital that confirmed she had a pretty serious skin infection. When I reached out to Dr. Leland’s office she was initially not available, and I was later called back by a vet tech, after asking to speak with the Dr directly. When I finally got the Dr on the phone she immediately began defending her self and spewing excuses. She admitted the last time she saw Kream was Thu and I had her picked up on the following Tue. Additionally, she admitted she does not check on the boarded cats every day, even though I specifically brought her there to be monitored and explicitly explained this to the front desk workers. The Dr then boasted she had punished the vet tech she felt was at fault and offered me some free medications, without even evaluating Kream’s condition, as compensation for the event. I requested a refund for boarding which she refused.

After this event it very evident that Dr Leland leads a very loose ship at her office, which can be easily seen by the hypocrisy in their “mask required” policy. If customers don’t wear a mask then they require the patient to wait outside, however when ever I would wear a mask inside, at least one person in the office was not wearing a mask over their face. In retrospect, I recall only ever seeing Dr Leland once after over a year of visits. Additionally, I only noticed her vehicle even at the office once in the at least a dozen trips I made to her office over the course of a year. I also question the need for $800 dollars of treatment to relieve my cat of simple constipation a few weeks before this event.

My final thoughts on this office are to be aware, that despite they have a ton of “cat lover” stuff inside the office, Dr Leland appears to be absent most of the time and lacks leadership to ensure her staff is competent. Unfortunately, it appears this office is more interested in the wallets of their patients, than their well-being.

I cannot put into words how thankful I am for the kind hearted people who work here. I rescued a cat that had hypatic lipidosis, and these wonderful souls saved his life. It was a very long, hard road, but they were there every step of the way. No matter how many times I would call, or how many questions I had, they were always there for us. At one point, I was very discouraged, and they may not know it, but they are what pushed me through it. I would recommend Cat Hospital of Austin to ANYONE who has a cat. I have always brought my cats here for regular check ups and other non emergencies, the prices are fair, and they all treat you like you are part of the family! They really showed me that there are good people in this world, and don't see your animal as dollar signs, as most vet offices do. I cannot thank this amazing group of people enough, I was truly blessed to have them during this very trying time. 😻😻😻So, if you want good people taking care of your cats, who won't gouge you on prices, this is the only place to go.

This is my go-to place for my two cats. I've used them for routine examinations, vaccinations, and major surgeries and the quality and care of service is unmatched. It is a little more pricey than some clinics, but it is expected from specialized clinics. My cats are big babies so the cat-only atmosphere that they provide helps to make the visits a little better!

They always take great care of my cats! Dr. P-L, Chelsea, Lauren, Eliza and everyone else there truly love cats and are all super nice! Very knowledgeable and caring and more importantly get my kitties back on track when they don’t feel good.

We boarded our precious baby here while on vacation and specifically requested the vet see her daily for an active lesion related to her chronic skin condition. When we got her back, the wound was much bigger, matted, stunk of infection and she was in so much pain she yowled and growled. Her pulse was almost 200/min. After seeing another vet for treatment and realizing the severity of the wound, we called Cat Hospital of Austin and the vet offered free drugs as a consolation. If she needed drugs, why didn’t she receive them during her Hospitalization? Our cat is still heavily wounded, has been wearing a cone for a week and is only now beginning to feel better. Her life was in danger. Run far and fast from this place. I apologize for the photos. I posted them to help protect your cat.

If you live in Austin and you have a cat, this is the vet for you! I can’t recommend Cat Hospital of Austin enough. Everybody from the front desk to the vet tech was so kind and genuinely listened to what I was saying. And I could tell they really care about the cats they see. ❤️

I really wanted to like this clinic, but I’ve been there several times with my cat and have never met the doctor. Everything just feels so disconnected and distanced here. You pay a lot to not ever meet the doctor just doesn’t feel right.

They are also not very good with pet insurance. I ended up owing money after a visit and when they tried to explain the additional charges, I asked for an invoice to be emailed over before I paid. Never got the invoice explaining.

Edit: I called multiple times for the invoice and verified the email address is correct with the people up front. I did everything on my end. I don’t want to pay an amount without knowing what I am paying for and totally willing to pay for my part like I’ve always done.The biggest reason for the low review - it was more about never being able to meet the doctor and how impersonal everything feels here.
